"Myths are stories that help us see where we are, where we've been, and where we might go." — adapted from Joseph Campbell

Greece and the myths of yoga are a match made in heaven—or perhaps, on Olympus. Both traditions use storytelling to explain the human condition, the struggles of daily life, and the path to inner peace. Join Kelly for this five-day, six-night retreat into the myths and practice of yoga on the breathtaking island of Amorgos, one of the most unspoiled gems of the Greek Cyclades.

Each day will explore a different myth or story from the ancient texts and how it relates to our experience of being human. Rise with the sun to chant and meditate overlooking the turquoise Aegean. Practice active, alignment-based Hatha Yoga every morning, explore the charming local villages by day, and enjoy a gentle, restorative evening yoga practice with myofascial release and guided relaxation as the sun sets.

This retreat is a fabulous opportunity for self-care and transformation. With meditation, mindful movement, delicious Mediterranean cuisine, and a spectacular location amidst the dramatic landscapes of Amorgos, you will return home feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and connected to the timeless myths and stories of our shared humanity.

Space is limited in this intimate retreat experience. Explore the highlights below, or see full details and registration on True Nature Travels.

Retreat Details

Sun, Stone, and Spirit weaves the parallels between ancient Greek mythology and yogic philosophy into a week of practice, exploration, and rest on one of the Cyclades' most captivating islands. It will be a transformative week of sun—the fire of our yoga practices; stone—our solid foundation in the daily rhythms of a yogi; and spirit—a deeper connection to wholeness and our true self.

The Practice

This retreat features alignment-based Hatha Yoga, chanting, meditation, and gentle restorative yoga, with guided relaxation or Yoga Nidra offered every day. All sessions are optional, though we hope you'll make the most of the offerings.

Each morning begins with the Gayatri Mantra or another traditional chant to clear the mind, followed by guided and silent meditation—a time to focus on the breath, relax the body, calm the mind, and open the heart.

After a short break, experience a full-length alignment-based Hatha Yoga practice to build strength, flexibility, balance, and agility. Your body and mind will be warmed and energized for the day ahead.

Evening sessions wind down with gentle and restorative movements, myofascial releases, and guided relaxation or Yoga Nidra—the perfect way to close each day on this peaceful island.

The Setting

Your home for the week is the Aegialis Hotel & Spa, the only five-star property on Amorgos Island. Perched on a hillside above Aegiali Bay, the hotel blends traditional Cycladic architecture with modern luxury. Every room offers views of the Aegean Sea, and the property includes an outdoor pool, world-class spa facilities with sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, and an indoor heated seawater pool.

During your free time, wander the nearby village of Aegiali with its cafés and sandy beach, hike the trails connecting traditional hilltop villages, or simply relax poolside. The hotel's chefs prepare fresh, locally sourced Mediterranean cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with options to accommodate dietary needs.

Explore Amorgos

Amorgos is one of the easternmost Cycladic islands—rugged, uncrowded, and stunningly beautiful. Free time throughout each day gives you the chance to discover what makes this island so special. Visit the iconic Monastery of Hozoviotissa, a centuries-old structure built into a dramatic cliffside 300 meters above the sea. Swim at Agia Anna beach, made famous by the film The Big Blue. Explore hidden coves, hiking trails, and the welcoming warmth of island life. Optional excursions and spa services are available to book on-site through the hotel concierge.

Getting There

Amorgos is reached by ferry from Athens (Piraeus port), with daily departures taking approximately 6–9 hours depending on the vessel. Faster connections are available from Santorini, Naxos, and Mykonos during summer season. A shuttle from the Amorgos port to the Aegialis Hotel is included in your retreat package. Full travel details will be provided upon registration.
