The 11th Step: Slowing Down to Connect

At Columbia Yoga Center, our 11th Step Yoga Workshop offers a quiet refuge from the noise of everyday life. Rooted in the 11th Step of Alcoholics Anonymous, this practice is about deepening connection—to self, to community, and to a higher power as you understand it.

We begin with a short centering meditation, inviting students to slow down and arrive. From there, we move into 45 minutes of restorative yoga, using props to fully support the body. This is a practice of receiving—releasing tension, calming the nervous system, and creating space within.

Some classes include yoga nidra, others offer sound healing, but the intention is always the same: to quiet the mind and nourish the soul.

After the physical practice, we gather for a gentle 12-step style discussion. Each class begins with a reading based on a theme—serenity, trust, courage, or the power of the group—followed by optional sharing.

Students often leave feeling calmer, more grounded, and more connected—both inwardly and with each other.

This regular Yoga Center of Columbia workshop is a reminder that sometimes the most powerful step we can take is to simply pause… and listen.

Thanks! 🙏
