Continuing education for yoga teachers and yoga therapists.
Most everyone loves to do them. Their characteristics are often described as an expression of openness and acceptance. And yet, much as they may love to do them, backbends can be problematic for many students, especially those with lower back, shoulder and neck issues. So, how do you help students who may have difficulties in, or be the most vulnerable in backbends? Upon completion of this training, yoga teachers and therapists will be able to:
- Identify cues to instruct students safely into and out of backbends.
- List common misalignments that could cause injury in backbends.
- Provide modifications for each of the common misalignments.
- Design and teach a class focused on backbends that would include warm-ups, modifications, and counter-poses
Training includes handouts of poses and techniques taught.
