Slowing down and taking time for self care is no small feat in today’s world. By combining Pilates and stretching exercises, you can use mind-body awareness, along with flexibility techniques used by today’s top sports professionals to bring your mind a sense of calmness, and your body a feeling of ease.
This workshop will start with an informational segment, to help you understand why different techniques work, and how you can make them most effective for you. The Pilates section, aimed for all levels, will incorporate a thorough breakdown of the basic Pilates techniques, so you will learn to work your core effectively and safely, helping you feel strong from your center outward. The stretching segment will incorporate three different flexibility techniques: 1. long hold, 2. PNF (Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) stretching, and 3. Active Isolated Stretching, which all provide different benefits for your body. Techniques we will cover:
- Deep muscle activation
- Moving with control
- Basic kinesiology of important stretches, including common leg, hip and shoulder stretches.
