2017 Teacher Training 200
This Teacher Training RYT200 program focuses on the fundamentals of yoga and teaching shared by all traditions. We align with root aspects of yoga, breath, meditation, intention, and service which give rise to the various schools and styles. In this student-centered program, we encourage you to discover your evolutionary path. The program covers the history and philosophy of yoga, asanas, pranayama, meditation, anatomy, physiology, therapeutics and adjustments. Creativity and personal exploration will be encouraged as you deepen your practice and develop your teaching skills.
This comprehensive program meets or exceeds the new, revised requirements for a Registered Yoga Teacher. This course has been carefully designed to be comprehensive, professional and yet convenient for busy lifestyles. Upon satisfactory completion of this program you will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level (RYT200)
Kathy Donnelly, E-RYT500, Owner/Director of The Yoga Center of Columbia, has been studying yoga for 20 years and completed teacher training with The Yoga Center of Columbia, Willow Street Yoga Center, and extensive study of yoga with master teachers. A certified teacher since 2003, Kathy has studied with many national and international teachers of yoga, as well as Zen Meditation teachers Thich Nhat Hanh and Jack Kornfield.
Lucy Lomax, E-RYT 500, RPYT, YACEP, certified yoga teacher of therapeutically-oriented yoga, began meditating and practicing yoga in the 70's and teaching yoga in 1999. After 32 years as a financial policy analyst (BS Organizational Behavior, Masters in Public Financial Management) Lucy became a full-time yoga teacher. Her yoga background includes 17 years study and practice in alignment-based yoga and continuing studies in practical applications integrating alignment-based therapeutically-oriented yoga with Western medical approaches to healing.
2017 Teacher Training 300
This teacher training program meets the revised requirements for a Registered Yoga Teacher. This course has been carefully designed to be comprehensive, professional, and yet convenient for busy lifestyles. Upon satisfactory completion of this program, you will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level (RYT-500). In addition to meeting all Yoga Alliance curriculum requirements, this program also includes: how to offer private yoga sessions, effective sequencing, developing your workshops, and 45 hours of specialized study outside of the program, in an area of interest to you.
We will explore and experience different styles and approaches to asana practice, meditation and the business of yoga. A list of required reading will be provided. The cost of textbooks is not included in the tuition.
Bita Jenkins, M.D., E-RYT500 (Director) has been practicing and studying yoga since 1976. She has completed teacher training with The Yoga Center of Columbia, Willow Street Yoga, and has been studying with various master teachers. Since completing her teacher certification in 2007, she has been teaching at The Yoga Center of Columbia and Willow Street Yoga and has continued her studies and teachings. Bita’s strength as a teacher comes from her strength in practice first and foremost, continuing to shift and grow with the teachings. Bita’s emphasis in teacher training is to provide, empower and assist each student to not only deepen their knowledge and understanding of yoga, but of themselves. She inspires them to cultivate, explore and thrive on their journey.
