Teacher Feature - Kathy Donnelly

I started a meditation practice about 22 years ago when I was introduced to the book "Peace is Every Step" by Thich Nhat Hanh. This book was life changing for me. Shortly after that, I borrowed Yoga tapes from the library by Patricia Walden and through watching that video, I created a home practice for myself. I would get up early before my 3 little boys ages 1, 3 and 5 to do yoga. I knew from the beginning that yoga changed the way I walked through my day and that I was a better Mom when I did yoga. I was more patient and more fun!

I did yoga at home for three years. Then I started taking classes at the Yoga Center. My first class was with Moses Brown and I remember loving it so much. The next step was taking the teacher training with Bob Glickstein and Moses Brown. When I completed that training, I started teaching at the YMCA in Westminster and Columbia Association. The first class I taught at the Yoga Center was subbing for Moses. I was then offered 2 classes of my own and I suppose the rest is history.

I bought the Yoga Center from Bob in 2005 and I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to have yoga and meditation as the primary focus in my life. It is an amazing gift to be able to interact with so many wonderful people in such a meaningful way. It is a privilege to lead a business that has such a positive effect on our students and our community.
