Mind Your Body: Pilates And Mind Body Awareness with Karen Best

Pilates is a powerful mind-body exercise program. But what does this really mean? Karen will take the mystery out of the mind-body concept, and teach you how to develop awareness and strength via the Pilates system of increasing stimuli from within the body and receptors linked to the brain. Training your brain along with your body also trains the communication system in your body; the nervous system. Strengthening your nervous system gives you health benefits for decades to come. Mind Your Body will teach you how to: 

  • Improve core strength and stability
  • Improve posture and balance
  • Increase flexibility
  • Prevent and reduce back pain
  • Stabilize commonly injured areas relating to core: including knees, hips, back etc
  • Practice mind-body awareness exercise for the brain, body and nervous system
  • Use Pilates for stress relief, mood enhancement 
  • Implement gentle nerve flossing techniques

We will finish this workshop with gentle stretching techniques used commonly in sports medicine.
