Teacher Feature - Bonnie Cassels

March 21, 2006 was a life changing day for me. I took my daughter to our first yoga class at The Yoga Center in celebration of her 15th birthday. After class, I felt this immediate sense of peace and inner calm and I have not stopped practicing yoga since that transformative day.

I love how I ALWAYS feel better by the end of my practice/class.

Ten years as a competitive gymnast and 30+ years of experience in education and education administration has lent itself to a great motivation and inspiration to continue on this lifelong journey to enlighten and help heal others through yoga.

I started teaching yoga at the end of 2008.

I received my 200- and 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training certification from the Yoga Center in 2008 and 2013, respectively, with Kathy Donnelly, Cheryl Catranbone, and Lucy Lomax.

The breadth and depth of my education has been enhanced through intensive courses, workshops, and apprenticeships in gentle, therapeutics, flow, and children's yoga under the guidance of yoga masters Aadil Palkhivala, Debbie Jensen-Grubb, Moses Brown, Sean Corn, Jenny Otto, and Helen Garabian. In addition, I have attended numerous trainings and workshops through the Yoga Journal Conferences and The Kripalu Center For Yoga and Health. These inspiring teachings are threaded throughout all of my classes.

As I continue to grow and evolve as a yoga student and teacher, I feel incredibly honored and grateful to have the privilege of being able to share what I have learned with all ages and abilities. Helping people enhance their strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance, as well as feel more aware, joyful, energized, confident, peaceful, and relaxed — it doesn't get any better than this!

Being a yoga teacher = The Best Gig in town!
