What is QiGong?

QiGong (Energy Medicine) focuses on improving physical health and wellness. It opens the energy flow within the body by eliminating blockages. The intent is to balance the body by opening the energetic pathways (meridians). This is accomplished by a series of gentle movements synchronized with the breath. This form of QiGong can be safely practiced by the beginner, with limited movement, to the most advanced student. It benefits all students and aides them in moving forward no matter what their prior experiences. Each class is started with a set of Opening Moves to allow the body structure to open in all directions. Next, we move through the QiGong movements. These movements focus on Energy passing through specific pathways (or meridians). The class ends with a closing QiGong form that integrates the mind-body-spirit to a more grounded state of well being.

QiGong is an excellent tool to acquire mind-body-spirit awareness. Its movements provide a path toward personal transformation. Each individual may have a different experience each time they practice the form. The goal is as they work toward balance of the Yin-Yang Qi they will notice improved health, increased energy and a greater awareness life.

What are the benefits? QiGong enhances immune function, reduces the ill effects of stress, prevents disease, calms the mind and emotions, lowers blood pressure, increases flexibility, cultivates energy, treats chronic pain, and improves sleep.

The smooth flow and expression of Qi through these channels is vital to good health. In Organ Cleansing QiGong you will learn how to work with these signatures and energy channels by using the breath in conjunction with specific movements and mental visualizations facilitating dynamic flowing Qi.

Wuji (Primordial) QiGong
Saturday, May 5, 2012
10:30am - 4:30pm
Cost: $100

Wuji Gong was founded by Zhang San Feng, the originator of Taijiquan, (Tai Chi) in the Ming Dynasty, some 600 years ago. This ancient and magical Daoist QiGong form combines movement, breathing and visualization, stimulating the flow of qi (vital force) for health and longevity. By working with the primal energies of the five directions (including the center) and the qualities of each direction, the practitioner is performing an energetic ritual, one that has been done in China for 600 years! This class is open to beginners as well as experienced students of QiGong and will include basic QiGong theory, Daoist cosmology, & healing meditation. This day will be a "yang" day of external movement accompanied by internal vision.

Chinese Essence QiGong
Sunday, May 6, 2012
11:00am - 6:00pm
Cost: $100

No experience is necessary to practice this easy-tolearn, yet very powerful QiGong. "We access the qi," says the creator of this form, Chen Fu Yin, "so that we can allow for the emergence of the shen or spirit." In this way QiGong becomes a deeply spiritual practice.

The benefits of better health, more vitality, clearer emotions, and stronger immune system are all doors into the great realm of the spirit, where true healing lies.

This day will be a more "yin" day of internal vision along with gentle movement. (Can be done in a chair for the alter-abled.)
