Quality of Life
“I will not die an unlived life …. I will allow my living to open me”

These inspiring words are from a poem by Dawna Markova and speak of how we choose to live our day to day lives. I recently asked yoga students why they do yoga and the responses were equally inspiring: “I feel better”, “I am happier”, “stress reduction”, “my
body feels better”, “my back doesn’t hurt anymore”.

Several students reported that they can’t imagine their lives without yoga. This ancient system of self care brings balance, strength and flexibility on all levels: body, mind and spirit. Yoga and meditation lower the stress hormones in the body, this directly affects your quality of life. With these shifts we feel able to be in the present moment; to notice the blue sky, the sunset, the faces of our loved ones. If you are new to yoga or have been away from yoga for awhile, come back. Yoga meets you where you are and time spent on your yoga mat directly affects your quality of life. - Kathy Donnelly

Reflection by Kathy:
The nature of Yoga is to connect us back to our true nature, the star inside us. The practice of yoga can lead us to the "meadow" where the truth of your light and grace will be revealed to you!

Namaste

The Star in My Heart

There's a star inside of me;
she shines there in my heart
and waits to be recoginzed.

Darkness tries to scare her off,
ego attempts to ignore her,
busyness pushes her around.
But this wonderful shining Star
keeps twinkling, all aglow.

She waits to lead me
to an unknown meadow
where the truth of who I am
will be revealed to me.

Shining Star, faithful Star,
when will I follow you?
When will I come to the meadow
where the truth will set me free?

Embrace the World

May light be born anew in me and you.
May peace reign in our heartsand gratitude frame our days with gladness and with joy.
May each one of us awaken to the truth and allow the universe to use us, heart, hands, minds and prayers,
united to embrace the world.
